I'm running the latest version of NIS (I believe 21.0.1.3) and NIS is installed on 3 separate machines. Due to a problem with Windows Update I may restore my computer to an earlier time....a time prior to installing the latest version of NIS. Will I have any problem (re)installing the latest version of NIS after the system rollback? Is there anything special I need do so that NIS recognizes the installation is one of the three that I'm allowed? I believe, I should still have the product key in a text file. Is there a preferred way to reinstall the latest version under the circumstances? Should I install an evaluation version and then input my previous product key?
Since this machine previously had NIS installed, it should not affect your number of Available Installs. Norton understands that there will be times when the product needs to be re-installed on the same machine.
If you are not comfortable using the download link in your Norton account, you can download NIS here.
Use your current key to activate the product and be sure to run Live Update a few times after installation.
There should be no issues in reinstalling NIS after system restore. If you have NIS setup, you can directly install and activate with the key you have in text file after system restore.
Else key information will be present in Norton Account. You can login and download (if you dont have setup) and activate with the key present in Norton Account.
It will consider only as one of the three machines you have used. But you have to activate again manually after installing product.
The last time I used system restore in safe mode with a command prompt because of a ransom virus and went back one day, which was successful. Norton then prompted me to update and I had a 180mb download that was successful.
Does the Norton product have a process installed that automatically installs a fresh copy and then updates it after using system restore? I would just like to know what is in fact going on when this happens?

Excuse me for jumping in - but a quick question for sunitha to tell us if it would work or not.
It would seem to me that that Aravaipa could just sign into their Norton Account on the restored system, locate the entry associated with the license they wish to use and click on the yellow download button associated with it. This should, download, install and activate all ion one click. The LiveUpdate would need to be run to complete the defintions update.
Yes, he can. I have explained this product download option from Norton Account in second paragraph. I have an opinion that If he has setup in hand, he can directly install instead of downloading the product again :)
Updates can be virus defs/product updates. After system recovery, it will check whether new updates available for your product after checking the current state of product.
If setup is available, he can just update virus defes and product updates after installing product instead of downloading from scratch.
