Reinstall of NIS after virus and NIS Product Key doesn't work

I just completed a clean install of Win 7 64 bit. I attempted to install NIS. However, when I entered the product key from my current version of NIS, I received message stating that my version of NIS was expired and I needed to renew it. The product key is for a version of NIS I purchased on or about December 23, 2013. In addition, I used the product key that I stored on my PC upon installation of NIS. I do not plan on paying for the same product twice. So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to complete the install of NIS?

TIA,

Hi, Umrk111. If you sign in to your Norton Account, you may be able to release a key, so you can reinstall NIS.

If you have a problem, Norton Chat should be able to help

Funny thing I just remembered...my license for NIS permits me to install it on three pcs. Well, I installed it on two, and I am trying to reinstall it. So even though I have another license that is unused, my product key is expired???

I suppose I am just a bit frustrated having spent too many hours reinstalling windows to encounter this when I though I was about done.

Anyway, a solution to my conundrum is appreciated.

OK, I am signed on....now what?

Thanks,

I was able to retrieve the product key by signing in to norton.com.

THANK YOU!!!!!

Glad it worked for you. Don't forget to run Live Update after the install, until no more are found.

I wanted to follow up on this topic because I learned a valuable lesson while reinstalling my OS and applications. I had to perform a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate as a result of a virus/malware infection that compromised the security of my pc and home network. (Plus I added a new SSD drive).

Anyway, to reinstall a current version of NIS (or any other Norton product), you simply log into your account that was created during the initial install of NIS (or other Norton product) and you are able to download a current, updated version of the product - Norton Internet Security in my case - as well as manage any other licenses that you may be using on second or third machines. I deleted the license that was assigned to the pc that was infected and assigned it to the pc I am using now. This is a very helpful tool that makes reinstalling applications less time consuming.
