Rejected Activation Key then Japanese Language Take-over

My night with Norton has been less than pleasing. First, randomly, my Norton Internet Security (that has been installed and working just fine since December 2010) requests an activation key. No warning. Just bam! Open! Give me key. Thinking it was odd that my antivirus I was pretty sure had not expired was demanding an activation key, I log in to my Norton account. Sure enough, my key doesn't expire until December 2013. Furthermore, my account lists that I still have an install remaining. So, I put in my activation key. Norton rejects it and requests that I purchase another. Try again. Wham. Bam. Several trys later, no go.

Several restarts and an uninstall later, I get Norton manager to reinstall Norton. It notifies me that Norton has finished installing and opens...in Japanese!!!! I check my account and the webpages I was on. Sure enough, they are in ENGLISH. I try finding a solution and run into several Norton pages not in English but in Japanese. I jump onto a different computer and try to access those pages from google. Guess what? Japanese.

I give up. I was minding my own business and Norton went psycho on me. I just want my English version back. Suggestions?

Hi Sree,

What version of NIS you are using? You can check it in product's main UI 'Support' --> About box

Also specify us the OS you are using. It would be better if you post the screen shot of the error message you get while trying to activate with your key.

You can get the latest trial version (English) of NIS from http://us.norton.com/downloads-trial-norton-internet-security. If you bellieve that your key is not expired, you can use it in the trial version and activate.

You can also contact norton support via live chat www.norton.com/chat and resolve your issue.

Thanks!

sree,

You might want to run a full system check with the free version of Malwarebytes since it is good at picking up invaders that may have slipped through the protection of your security application.

Make sure you get the free on in the left column and not the free trial of the Pro version which may result in problems with having two interactive security applications installed at the same time.

The free version runs only when you instruct it to. After you install it click on the Update button to get it fully uptodate and then run the full scan and see what the log reports.

If you have a problem downloading or installing Malwarebytes that in itself can be an indication that you are infected.

And of course please provide the information sunitha asks for.

I don’t really know how I’m supposed to locate the version numbe. It’s in Japanese. That is the current problem. Thus, there is no error message.
The system is Windows 7, 64.
I don’t believe my code is still valid. I know it is. If necessary, I will post a screen shot of my Japanese flavored norton when I get home.

Hi Sree,

You can use Norton Removal Tool to completely remove Norton from your PC and install the trial version as I mentioned above. Hope your OS language is English.

Post a screenshot of below if possible.

-->After launching product (JP version), Goto top right corner (below minimize and close button). On clicking that it will list some options. Goto last option (which is About). Take a screenshot of this and post if possible

Thanks!
