I recently had a Microsoft system update that failed during the update process on my computer. The result was that I could not boot from the drive. I tried the Microsoft Recovery Disk (running the system repairs) without success. I am currently using Windows 7 x64.The upgrade that it failed on was the windows 7 sp1. I had done a ghost backup the night before using the "run backup" option, including in the process all of the system files. It backed up successfully.
I used the Norton Recovery disk and re-loaded the entire drive through "Recover my Computer" option. It took more than 14 hours and ended successfully. I can log on to the computer, all of the data appears to be there but after successfully login on it complains about "using a temporary profile" and my entire desktop has not been restored.
Prior to the restoration I had formatted the drive (ntfs) and prior to the recovery checked the blocked in Ghost 15 to:
1. restore drive signature,
2. Create mbr
3. Verify files.
I have checked the Microsoft web page and this forum for any ideas but didn't get any ideas.
I'm using a Dell Precision T7500 with 24 GB of memory, 4-1.5 TB disk drives.
Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.
