I've tried everything short of uninstalling Internet Security 2009.
Situation:
Location 1: Vista Laptop with Internet Security 2009, XP Laptop with other older security product. Both laptops connect to internet via wireless network, both can connect to internet, email, etc.
Location 2: 5000km away, XP Desktop with Internet Security 2009, connects through wired hub. Connects fine to internet/email.
Both location 1 laptops both send Windows Remote Assistance request by email to Location 2 computer.
Location 2 computer can connect fine to the XP laptop, however cannot connect to the Vista laptop with Internet Security 2009.
Have tried to add allowing port 3389 incoming/outcoming to both Location 1 and 2 computers with Internet Security. This seemed to allow Remote Assistance to work a few months ago. Now this doesn't work anymore, haved tried to temporarily and completely disable Smart Firewall, Intrusion Prevention, Antispyware, and Advance Protection for one hour, have added c:\windows\system32\mstsc.exe to allowed programs for all inbound and outbound communications. With firewall on, have tried to disable stealth blocked ports, stateful protocol filter. None of this works. The computer waiting for remote assistance seems to flash the cursor to a busy cursor for a fraction of a second around the time the request to aid comes in, but otherwise completely ignores the request to give help. Remote Assistance is waiting to answer.
Only thing I have not done is to try to install Internet Security 2009.
Any other things to try to fix this issue?
The Windows Vista built in firewall does list Remote Assistance as an accepted program but this should not matter because the Vista firewall is not the active firewall.
thanks
