I tried using the Removal Tool because:
I had Norton Internet Security 2010 throw a error message at me 2 days ago that it was corrupted and please reinstall. All the advice I read said use the Removal Tool for best results. But it did not like the Nortons Utilities 14 I also had installed and would I please manually remove it before using the Removal Tool via the Win7 Pro Control Panel / Programs and Features.
Fine, I did that, even restarted the PC. The Removal Tool still states that NU14 is installed and still will not run.
Went online and had Symantec remote connect just to verify what was happening. They said don't worry NU14 is uninstalled and proceed with the Removal Tool - but it does not get past that error message re NU14. The help desk then suggested I download the new Beta Removal Tool at www.norton.com/rr and use it. At this point we disconnected so I could do the download.
It did not work either. Please help me get all traces of NU14 off my PC so I can use the Removal Tool.
As a side problem, I did manage to upgrade to Internet Security 2011 without the Removal Tool (but had problems because IS2010 was not properly uninstalled and the new 2011 install would not take the product key for the new version - it reused the old product key - another call to Symantec to fix). But Win7's "perfmon/report" says there is no AV installed - a problem for later to fix.
