Are you able to boot in “Safe mode”?
Hi Vejdin,
When I try and boot in safe mode I get a black screen with white writing and lots of this:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers.......
Then the screen just goes very very briefly to a blue screen then goes blank (black) and restarts getting stuck on the Windows XP loading page
It seems I can only boot from the XP CD currently
Any ideas?!
Cheers
Emma
The problem seems to be serious. What was your previous Norton product and version? What is the current Norton 360 version installed on your laptop? I’ll need this info so I can figure out whether it’s possible to remove Norton 360 using recovery console.
Hi Vejdin,
I'm afraid I don't know the exact details and I can't get to them as I can't boot up! I was on the Norton 2008 product I believe and was just running a LiveUpdate when it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to Norton 360 so I said yes - downloaded the file and then halfway through the installation the machine just failed... it had only been asking me to upgrade for a week or so so it must have been a fairly recent update... sorry I don't have more details
Cheers
Emma
I guess you should repair your Windows XP installation by pressing "Enter" after booting from CD. Windows should offer you to repair your existing installation. Your settings should be saved but you may need to reinstall some programs after repair. Then run the Norton Removal Tool to remove any files left by Norton.
You can download and install the latest Norton 360 version from here.
