I have been using Norton for some time and really appreciate the Logins Management. I recently had a problem with the Web pages associated in that Login capability, with my Mozilla Firefox browser (I do not like IE's user interface and features). The problem was rectified by my adding the Norton toolbar to my visible toolbars. Now the top of my browser is cluttered with an additional toolbar. I use a Firefox Addin to customize my toolbars. I have one toolbar for Navigation and browser commands. I have a second one with by bookmarks, almost 30 of them. I have customized these so that they are icons only. Now I have a third toolbar for the Norton options. I would like to do 1 of 3 options: 1) be able to remove this toolbar, and still get my login IDs & passwords updated for web sites, 2) move the Norton Icons to my bookmarks toolbar 3) Merge the Norton toolbar onto another toolbar. The latter 2 of these would also need an editing feature for each icon, where I can display only the icons, not the text.
Any assistance in this would be greatly appreciated.
HI stats,
Welcome to the Norton Community. Which Norton product do you have and the version? You can find the version from Help & Support > About or Support > About depending on the product and year. Also what OS and SP (service pack) do you have and is it 32 or 64 bit?
What version of Firefox do you have?
You can try going to Tools -> Add-ons and disable the Norton toolbar. However, even though this has worked before (I explicitly tested this) it appears now that with the latest version of Firefox (3.6.12) disabling the Norton toolbar also causes Identity Safe and Norton safe web search not to work also!
You can try this and see if it works but I suspect not if you have Firefox version 3.6.12.
With IE 8 you can disable the Norton toolbar only and both Identity Safe and Safe web search still works.
I am going to ask Symantec about this because I know this did work before with Firefox. It appears that with the latest update or two of Firefox this option no longer works.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.

You can hide the Norton Toolbar by right-clicking in the menu bar (or clicking View > Toolbars) and deselecting the Norton Toolbar entry, Identity Safe will still work as long as you are logged in and you can unhide the Toolbar whenever you need to. Unfortunately you cannot merge or combine the Norton features into another existing toolbar.
Hi SendOfJive,
Do you have Firefox version 3.6.12? Because for me this option no longer works like it used to. Disabling the Norton toolbar has removed both ID safe and safe web icons for me.
Edit: Your method DOES still work. The method I outlined used to work but no more but since yours still does, we're all set!

Hi AllenM,
My method merely hides the toolbar without disabling it, so everything still works.
Ah, I see you've got it!
But you are one Firefox version behind - the latest (which was actually released some time ago) is 3.6.13.
HI SOJ,
LOL!
My method used to work as well. In IE it still does work. Oh well, I'll use the "hide" method with Firefox going forward.
Normally I don't use Firefox (except for testing) and for some reason this now it said there were no more updates but since then it has started downloading 3.6.13.
Hard to recall sometimes. When you go through the View menu in IE and "uncheck" the Norton toolbar it actually disables the toolbar but ID safe and safe web icons still function correctly. With Firefox it just "hides" the toolbar but it is still running.
Best wishes.
