Ok, forgive me if I come off crash as I am very frustrated at the moment cause I spent over a hour with Live chat support trying to resolve this but it only resulted in me being bounced around so many times My head still jumping. The service I have received has been less than good given the lack of knowledge I have seen.
Let me start off by explaining my dilemma.
I am a 3d Designer by hobby for now, and a gamer second. I have a top end Toshiba laptop that I use for both. So I can not have Norton products on it cause of how resource intense they are.. Its especially hell when running Maya, 3DS MAX , and Photoshop CS6E simultaneously. I have removed Norton Antivirus from my laptop but it left a nasty parting gift.. Norton PC Check up and that is preventing me from installing a lesser resource Impact AV on this laptop, Don't get me wrong Norton is good, but not for Multitasking..
Now, for those reading or will be if this is not deleted , do NOT skip over anything..
To start off, here are the steps Ive taken after removing the Norton AV.
1. I go to C:/Program FIles (X86)/ Norton PC Checkup
2. Search the folders for a Uninstaller, Nothing
3. Back out and try to Delete the folder, Error pretty much says that it is still in use.
4. Bring up Task Manager, No process that are part of Norton or Symantec are visible
1. Went to Control Panel
2. Add/Remove Programs.
3. Looked for Toshiba PC Check Up and any other Norton/SYmantec stuff.
4. Tried uninstalling it there: I get the error to the degree that it is not present on my laptop, and removes the icon.
5. Restart my laptop, Icon is back in the Uninstall Programs list.
1. Gone to Norton, do a Search on the community forums.
2. Got the NRT and downloaded it.
3. Ran it, let it do its whole process.
4. Restarted my laptop, Norton PC Checkup is still there.
Please, if anyone knowledgeable has any info on how to remove this godforsaken thing, please message me or something.
