Removing preinstalled AV

Hi,

I apologize for creating another topic, this is in relation to my other question on the forum but I already marked that as solved.

I just have a question about uninstalling the old AV before installing Norton. I want to install Norton after a reformat and as I understand I need to uninstall the preinstalled AV and then download and run the removal tool. It was suggested that I download the removal tool onto a usb prior to reformatting so that I wouldn't have open a browser to download it immediately after I reformat. Unfortunately that option is not available to me.

I was wondering if it is okay to just uninstall the preinstalled AV through WIndows, install Norton and then when everything is up to date run the removal tool. I ask this because I'm not sure if the suggestion to completely remove the old AV before installing Norton is just so that the old AV doesn't interfere with Norton later or if not completely removing the preinstalled AV may somehow disrupt the installation of Norton.

Thank you.
