Renewal Rip Off

Mostly I'm just totally annoyed that Norton sent me an e-mail for renewal of $99 for 2 years, then turned around and charged me $104.99.  WHY???  This seems like false advertising to me!

As Hugh has suggested, you are best contacting Customer Support about issues with costs and accounts.  These forums are geared more toward technical assistance for the Norton range of products.  http://www.norton.com/chat

FYI, most of us here are just Norton users who volunteer our time to help where we can.  Symantec Employees will have either Administrator or Symantec Employee written under their username.

Just how the heck would one even know where/what the appropriate forum is??? Nothing about getting answers from these people is easy.

Well you either look at the list of Forums when you log into the website or, as asked, you tell us what Norton product you have since we can't see your computer and then we'll be happy to tell you.

Be happier if you would treat with some respect "these people" who are users just like you but willing to help others.

What I would like to know is why Norton wants to charge me $79.99/year for a renewal when I can outright buy a new subscription for $39.99?  (I only need it for one computer)

That's a different question and again best asked out in the appropriate forum mentioned where you would find not only the answer but that that is what most of us do -- buy a new copy and use the key to extend the existing subscription.

Please ask again out there saying which you have installed of the various varieties of Norton and you will find/get plenty of advice.

If you bought your Norton for that higher price you have 60 days to get your money back from Norton under their satisfaction warranty but again please ask about this change since there is a way to do it which avoids losing days and having to ask for them back.

This specific forum is for things that don't relate Norton or computing technology -- for informal chat about stuff. Tech Outpost is for things that don't relate to Norton but do to computing.

The best place for your message to get proper attention is in the Forum related to the Norton product you have or want, like Norton Security or Norton Internet Security (the previous versions now renamed and updated.

So it may be moved but I'll suggest using the Norton OnLine Support at Norton Chat Support  which resolves to http://www.norton.com/chat  Most people find the CHAT function via the computer rather than the phone is quicker and better and leaves you with a record if you want it.

Have you taken into account that you may have been charged Sales Tax for where you are located?
