Renewal/upgrade

After having problems last spring with NAV 2008, which finally was resolved not long after I posted about it, I then took everyone's advice, and upgraded to NAV 2009.

I followed your advice, and used the Norton Removal Tool, ran it twice, and then I uninstalled my Spysweeper.  I then installed NAV 2009 and activated it with my 2008 product key from "my account".

I then reinstalled Spysweeper.  Had no problems whatsoever after that, and not only did NAV 2009 function perfectly all year, but it played well with Spysweeper.

Now, here I am at renewal time for my NAV.  I discovered that the price for subscription renewal only, going through my 2009 product and/or using the renew link on the symantec store, is $10. more than purchasing NAV 2010 new from the symantec store.

I had an online chat with tech support, and expressed disappointment that the less expensive price for the new product with 1 year sub, was not offered to me when attempting to renew through my current product.  As a consolation, he gave me a 15 day "extension" on my subscription.

Then, I also joined Norton Advantage, and found an offer for $5.00 off the purchase of NAV 2010.

Knowing that I should again probably uninstall Spysweeper, and then use the Norton Removal Tool before installing NAV 2010, should I be afraid of the short time I will be without any protection for a brief period between the uninstalls of both SS and NAV 2009, and the download and install of NAV 2010?

(I realize that the same situation must have existed last year, when I upgraded to NAV 2009, and nothing bad happened........but still, I wanted to ask about it this time.)

Is my only alternative to that, to pay the extra fee to purchase the package for NAV 2010, so that can do the uninstalls and the new installs while NOT connected to the internet?

Thanks in advance for your advice and/or opinions.
