Renewing Norton 360

I am about to again renew my Norton 360.  Originally I purchased it in CD form and have since renewed it online.  Now it is up for renewal again, however, I need to change my credit card number and also, I wish to install it on an Asus Netbook.   Can I do this even though I last renewed it online and if so, how to I do it e.g. do I do one from my main computer and then the other direct using the Netbook and what activation code do I use seeing as I renewed it online last time.

Thanking you,

Rhonda

If you go to www.mynortonaccount.com, and sign in, you will find your current product list there.  If you click on it, you will find your key.  While you are there, you should find a tab that enables you to change your billing information, and/or profile.

When you renew, or purchase a new CD, your activation key is stored in your account.

Please be advised that the netbook edition is a separate edition and can't be activated using the regular version key.  The netbook will run the standard version although you may want to turn some things off in order to conserve power.

This post has been moved to its own thread.

Hi Lateef1967,

Welcome to the Norton Community!!

Sorry for the delay in response. The easiest way is to go to the UK site (uk.norton.com) and select the Product for renewal. On the billing page, you will get the option to select your respective country. Please see to the screenshot below:

Let me know if you need more help.

Thanks,

Freddies,

Presuming you are UK based I'd stick to Amazon there. It may be £5 more for the 3PC version but you can be certain you are safe with nothing added on.

If you can't find the current 2014 V21 and find ealier versions cheaper you can always get one of those; install the current trial version you can download from Norton itself and use your purchased (earlier) key to activate the current version but be sure you buy the same subversion of Norton 360 -- Standard / Premier / Gold -- since the keys are not interchangeable.

Note also that some High Street stores like PCWorld or Currey's (?) aare fully legitimate but may sell versions that are already activated or have special ways of activating not directly involving Norton and so you can't use the KEY on another copy.

Many thanks for both replies.

My current Norton 360 is due for renewal in 19 days time, I have received an automatic renewal alert of £64 :smileymad:

About the same as my auto renewal alert last year.  Last year I went online to look for a better price and found myself on a Norton site that recognised my sign in details to this site, but was selling Norton 360 for £29.99, so purchased it and it was automatically downloaded - which I like!  So I tried the same thing this time around, but find sites like the one in my first post, and uncertain of the authenticity, especially when a download is offered - I want to feel safe with what I am downloading.  There are so many sites selling Norton 360 for a more reasonable price than what my auto renewall is offering.

I take on board everything you say Hugh, and do prefer an auto download to bypass all the possible scenarios you highlight.

Freddles,

In fact you don't have to download anything .....

You can check two routes:

1 -- Check Buy as well as Renew on the Norton UK website and look for special offers. Crazy a it is one can often Buy from Norton website cheaper than Renewing ..... When you buy from Norton my understanding is that you get an email from them with the KEY for the product you buy and you can use that KEY in your installed product without downloading anything -- the only thing to note is that because it is a "Bought" key and not a "Renewal" the system considers it a new installation and wipes out any unexpired time .... so all you need do is enter the new KEY a couple of days before your sibscription expires, just in case you need time to sort out a problem ....

This way of doing it is perfectly legitimate.

2 -- This is a different version of the above where you buy from a legitimate website that is authorized by Norton to sell Download versions -- Amazon is one of these and here's a link to one of their webpages to Buy N 360 3PC by Download. Again you get an email from them with the KEY and you don't even have to download what they offer but just use the key as above. On Safety, note that the authorized by Norton sites actually do the download from Norton Servers just as Norton does when you buy from them so you aren't downloading somethiing from a third party site.

And of course you can always phone Norton Customer Support for the UK and ask them what's the best price they can offer and can they price match the best you see elsewhere? <s>

If you do any of these make sure you cancel the Automatic Renewal immediately or you may be charged -- I would contact Norton Customer Support without delay if you plan anything other than letting the Auotmatic Renewal with Norton run its course.

Hi Freddles,

I always think it's better to be safe than sorry, especially if your gut instinct is sending out "unsure" signals :-) As peterweb and huwyngr have suggested, it is always recommended to purchase your Norton product via a well-known authorized retailer. It may cost more in some cases, but it's worth the peace of mind :-)

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

I contacted customer support through live chat and have negotiated to pay the same as last year - £29.99.  I will renew automatically and then receive a refund for the excess paid.  :-)

Well Done!

Delighted to hear that they reacted as they did -- chalk up another one for the home team! (Well not if it's Man Utd!)

When my automatic renewal took place I was charged the full price.  After reviewing my account and the price on the Norton 360 which was on sale, I contacted chat and was treated exceptionally well.  The difference in my renewal price and the sale price was adjusted.  I received a credit for the difference.  I'm very satisfied with how Norton handled the situation.  Job well done and made me very happy.   :smileyhappy:

Thanks for letting us know you were similarly treated on this situation. Are you in the UK like Freddles  or elsewhere? It will be nice to know since I'll ask Norton Staff here to pass on the news of some satisfied customers.

Hi Hugh,

I'm in the USA.

Thanks -- good team work by Norton.

Not quite solved :smileysad:

After speaking to live chat, i was assured that I could renew Norton 360 for £29.99 instead of the £64 auto quote.  I had to pay the £64 first, then get back to chat, explain the situation and the excess would be refunded.  Tried that today and was told that they can only refund 40%.  Not pleased.  I was given a number to ring -1800 745 6061, not sure what the rate is for this number and not prepared to pay a premium rate.  Anyway, I thought all UK number began with a 0?

Also, not sure what is happening with renewing Norton on the desktop.  I was able to add the desktop to Norton via my laptop and it shows that 2 of the 3 have been used, but when on the desktop, it is still showing that there are only 5 days remaining.  I have tried to go through the same procedure on the desktop that I go through on the laptop, but I cannot get into Norton Management. I then tried to renew my subscription by entering the new key, but despite being connected to the internet, it wouldn't connect to the server to complete renewal. sigh...........

That is a Norton support number but it's a US format although I believe that some freephone numbers of the 800 kind and valid from outside the USA do exist.

However I fear that someone may not have realized you could not use that number if it a USA only one.

I'll flag this to one of our contacts but with weekend starting it may take longer to get a reply; you could CHAT back -- especially if you got a report identification number (if you did don't post it here) and try and get a valid number if this is not. You could also check this with your phone service?

If you have paid the  full amount remember that if all else fails Norton have a 60 day satisfaction warranty even after using the product so you can get a full refund.

I can't help on the technical question .

Thanks for replying Hugh. :-)

Fingers crossed ....

Can anyone tell me if this is a valid Norton site please?
