I wanna replace my laptop hard drive with the help of Ghost.
I know things are a lot easier if I can find a USB to SATA adaptor or an external enclosure, so I can copy disk directly from the old drive to the new one. However, it isn't an option for me right now. So I wanna use my external hard drive as an intermediate.
Correct me, if any following things I'm gonna do is wrong.
First I copy the old hard drive to the external one. I actually have two drives on it, a system drive (NTFS), and a hidden drive (Fat32).
Question 1: When copy the system drive to the external one, should I check "Set drive active" and "copy MBR" options? After reading the Ghost Help, my guts tell me I shouldn't. But will this cause any problem when I copy the copy to my new hard drive?
Question 2: The hidden drive is FAT32, but my external hard drive is NTFS, will that be a problem?
After that, I install my new hard drive on the laptop, connect the external drive, and boot the computer with Ghost boot CD.
Question 3: Do I need to format and set partitions on the new drive before copy data to it? Does Ghost boot CD offer that option?
Question 4: Let's say I've formatted and set partitions already, then what shall I do? Just click the recovery button, and let the computer do the rest of the work?
Thank you.
