Reset link guard - what does this do?

SAMSUNG S8. I keep getting a notification to reset link guard. It is paired with my default browser chrome. Why this notification?

Olhank

For a few times I just reset my default browser but it just keeps coming back.

I take it you are referring to resetting your browser from the Reset Link Guard message.

Have you restarted your device?

If that has not worked for you, try going into the Norton Mobile Security, NMS app settings. Tap on the 3 bars at the top left of the NMS screen and tap on Settings. Scroll down to the Anti Theft section and turn off the Device Administrator setting.  Now go to Android Settings - Apps. Scroll to the NMS app and clear the app cache and app Data. Restart the device and turn the Device Administrator setting back on. This will reset your NMS to a trial version. To get the full version back, open the NMS app, tap on the 3 bars at the top left, then tap Sign In. Enter your Norton Account information and you should have the full version again.

Then test to see if things work properly.

I keep getting "Rest Link Guard" relentlessly and it is getting quiet irritating.
For a few times I just reset my default browser but it just keeps coming back.
I have no intention of resetting my default browser and want to know how to stop it.
For now I have chosen to ignore the notice.

Next solution will be to Disable Link Guard.

Galaxy S7 with all updates.
Norton Mobile Security
Ver. 3.21.0.3302

tap that browser when it opens the  app settings tap permissions and clear default settings.

In Chrome I had to open the "Open by default" options and press the "CLEAR DEFAULTS" button under "Other defaults" to get rid of the "Rest link guard" nag. I did not have to choose the browser either.

I just spoke to Norton support it is a new feature released in version 3.19.  If you open the notification it will have a orange circle with an exclamation point in it. tap that browser when it opens the  app settings tap permissions and clear default settings. then it will have you choose the browser you use.

Have you reset it each time it asks?

It is possible that your Norton Mobile Security got an update and needs to have some settings fixed again.

What version of NMS do you have?
