I distinctly remember being informed that Norton would be needing fewer restarts. However, for the past few months, it’s been as often as every three updates (every two weeks, give or take) that the Electronic Fuehrer has been demanding reboots. Considering that the hated dictator refuses to shut up about it (Heil Restart!), and doesn’t care that I just restarted yesterday and really do NOT feel like restarting just to satisfy its petty, egotistical needs, I really hope the friendly folk up at Norton will finally take the (rather obvious) hint that people do not want a digital Gestapo on their desktops. Arrest the viruses, not the users. (And when we’re talking about one virus a year getting stopped, NO, it is absolutely NOT a problem for the restart to wait another week.) (To the Defendors: sorry for mentioning this issue yet again, but my subscription isn’t up just yet, and I still feel this shred of loyalty to an otherwise decent product–I would feel guilty if I didn’t take the opportunity to point out such an obvious flaw in the programming.) ;p
