Following a hardisc crash and then delivery of a new Dell computer, I need to restore the last N360 backup. (Thank goodness it backed up before the crash!). Can I restore files without N360 installed? I notice that the N360 folder has some visible files. The new computer has Norton Save and Restore installed.
Nigeloz,
Were you using v3.0 of Norton 360? If you did we have a tool called ARestore.exe that you will find with your N360_BACKUP directory. You can run that which will allow you to restore your files without having N360 installed. If you were using v1 or v2 you have to install N360 to restore the files. I would recommend your free upgrade to v3 if you were using an older copy.

Hello Michael,
The tool you mentioned, ARestore.exe, is there a link where you can download it from (in case the backups are on the Secure Online Storage), or is it only found in the backup directory? What if you backed up online, can you use it to restore Secure Online Storage Backups?
Thanks in advance,
SekharB
SekharB,
Unfortunatly the AutoRestore tool can only be used for local backup. If you have them online you will need to re-install Norton 360. the tool is automatically written to the backup in v3.
Mike
Hi Nigeloz,
Sorry for the delay, hope you get this and hope everything else is going okay with they new system.
If you go to: nobu.backup.com you can download files to your system.
You of course will have to use the login credentials (email and password) that is linked to the your Norton account.
Take care,
