I had to run restore on my PC and have been trying to restore my stored files. At this time the restore has been running over 8 hours and is only 12% complete. I tried to cancel and recelived a message that if I cancel I could damage my files. Is this normal for restoring files?
Hi wematd,
Depending on how big the files that you are restoring and how fast your internet connection is. Sometimes, it would take more than 24 hours to restore files from the server because it would utilize your internet connection depending on how many files you are trying to restore. So, to answer your question, yes it is normal and the message is true that cancelling the restoration may damage your files since we are not sure if by the time you cancel the restoration Norton is restoring halfway through with a certain file or folder.
Hope this would help.
What charie22 provided is correct. There is also a sticky post at the top of the forum that specifically covers how restore works. Please check it out. It should answer all the basics in more detail than the FAQ's do.
