I'm trying to restore files to a laptop after installing a new hard drive. it has taken over 24 hours to reach 59% and then tells me that some files didn't restore, try again.
Hi,
If the file size is huge, it will take time to restore from backup.
Better you can break it up into 1 GB each and then you can try to restore the files, that would restore faster than retoring on whole.
To track where the backup data is stored in your system just check
Main UI -> Tasks -> Check Security History -> Choose Backup in the Show dropdown -> Choose the Restore activity entry and Click on More details - Here you can view the actual location where the files have been restored

Thanks i'll give it a try

Hi,
Are you restoring from a USB Drive (Local Backup) or Online Backup?
If you are restoring from a Online Backup then please try this scenario, do not restore all the files at once, Since due to network bandwidth issue they may fail, Divide them into groups and try to restore them.
Please let us know the behavior.

Hello,
My computer is a T5274 with a Windows Vista operating system. I use Google Chrome for my default browser.
my issue is that when I restored my files, the original programs would not open them. How do I make them work?
I'm new to the forum and I really am confused. The hard drive in my laptop crashed. It has been replaced and all programs installed. The Norton tech installed Norton 360 premier. It is also on my husband's desk computer and my daughter's desk computer. My intent was to download several of my backed up files, i.e. contacts, word perfect docs. Went to Norton, followed directions and here was my first question. I backup regularly but only 5 dates showed up to choose from, 2 dates from 2007. Where are all the backups I've been doing?? Chose the most recent and it had my name on it. When downloaded, it now has my husband's name and his info. Tried this several times, same result. How does this happen? Are his backups overriding my backups? I really need some help. I have read a lot of the posts and realize I probably just don't understand what I'm doing.
Please help. Judy95747
Thanks for your response. I'm such a novice at this! On the old hard drive, the files were backup to Norton offsite storage, I think. Then when I chose one to download, I chose the destination it was taken from, which since my computer is set up the same, I thought the files would go back to the original locations. Am I understanding your response?
