Restricted Website Visited

Hi comunity I have a question about the following message Restricted Website Visited.

Why is it the message Restricted Website Visited can appear in my reports in either red or black text? You can see an example below of the web site s-static.ak.facebook.com.

Also what is the differnce between the message Restricted Website Visited and Blocked Web site? I have blocked all categories with just a few white listed web sites allowed, of which facebook is not one of them.

I am concerned by the differeing messages that appear in the logs when some one visits facebook. I have made no changes to the settings. Am I to believe someone is able to visit the below website when it reports Restricted Web site visited rahter than being blocked?

Hi any advice from a Moderator or someone knowledgeable would be appreciated.

Hi,

Maybe somone can log onto the PC using an account that is not being monitored?

Also, please read this thread: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Family/How-come-quot-Restricted-Web-site-visited-quot/td-p/200517

I am having this same problem, i see that my child cann log into almost any HTTPs site like youtube and gmail while norton does nothing to block it while other sites in my blasklist remain block. I am going back to K9 web protection for my child's computer because norton cannot seem to get thier act together.

Hi,

We are checking into the issue.

Thanks,

Katie

Hi KatieQ did you have any luck with your inquiry?

Hi jcare.

Do you know by any chance  the google website is accessed using https in front of the URL one time and using http an another time?

Thanks,

Katie

I don't know for sure but I really doubt they know the difference between the two, and wouldnt likely use an encrypted page.

I am having the same issue.  I have restricted websites and then blocked them, but they still show up as websites visited.  My son seems to have found some way around it.  It seems he attempts to visit the same site dozens of times in a row, until Norton Family  "gives in" for lack of a better way to put it, and then he's able to access the sites, even though I have specifically blocked them.  I do not see a follow up to this post.

Hi shelntony,

You mentioned "show up as website visited".  Can you please let us know if these logs for the websites at Activity -> Web in red or in black?

Thanks,

Katie
