@Holly The Norton engine and detections for networks are too over responsive. Unfortunately. There isn’t anything that can be done other than, checked and resetting your network in Norton and Windows to private. Norton will do the same thing again and again until they figure out what the issues with it are and/or even try. Its an ongoing issue that needs a correction ASAP. Resuming from sleep / hibernation will cause this as well.
I get this every so often & have done ever since original installation of latest Version last October. If you check Security - Advanced Security -Smart Firewall - Network -Select PRIVATE..If you then get this report that you are om PUBLIC there should be an option the change to Private. Clicking on that does not respond, checking as above also does not respond. If you do a Reboot/Restart it should then show you PRIVATE, if not, you can now go thru’ the above process & it will now allow you to change the PRIVATE/PUBLIC switch. It should hold that setting for all future boots/ restarts etc - well untill the next time it happens. When the issue does re-appear, going into Windows network always shows PRIVATE even though Norton shows PUBLIC - an ongoing issue with Norton that they have NOT solved yet.
