Retrieving backed up material from Norton

I had some work done on my computer during the process of which, I needed to re-install Norton 36- v4.  I clicked on the v-4 version but when the installation was completed, I had v-5.  I went to restore my files through Norton and find that there are no backed up files to restore.  What gives?  How do I retrieve my files from your site?  Do I need to un-install version 5 and and re-install v-4?  Started to do that but messages came up asking why I was leaving Norton so I cancelled the proceedure.   My lap top shows I have a bunch of files in back-up.
