I have a 32-bit Vista SP2 computer running the latest Norton Security Premium v22.12.1.15. Guru yank just posted a reply in GordonK's thread Norton Toolbar Problem which noted that system requirements for Norton products running on Vista computers have been recently updated. I don't use Norton Identity Safe, but could someone from Symantec please explain the meaning of "New features are no longer supported on Windows Vista operating systems"? Going forward, does this new policy affect mean that Win XP SP3 and Vista SP2 users will no longer receive future product updates (e.g., to v22.12.2.x) but continue to receive all SDS, IPS and other definition updates? Does this means that Win XP SP3 and Vista SP2 users can no longer install Norton Identity Safe in fully supported browsers like Firefox ESR v52?
I'll post an excerpt from my live chat today with Norton customer support since in my next reply there seems to be some confusion over whether "Windows Vista" refers to the original Vista OS (i.e., without service packs) or all versions of Vista (i.e., including Vista SP1 and Vista SP2).

I see Norton employee Gayathri_R pinned an announcement Norton Maintenance Mode for Windows XP and Windows Vista at the top of the NS/NSBU and NIS/NAV/N330 boards yesterday (28-Mar-2018) so that answers my question.

It is my understanding that Norton Security Premium running on all Vista O/S will continue to receive the latest virus definitions along with critical vulnerability updates. You may also receive compatibility fixes where possible. New product features are no longer supported on Vista operating systems but I’m not sure how that relates to future product updates. I know that my XP system just updated to 22.12.1.15....

Thanks for your feedback. Like you, I'm assuming this won't affect the delivery of SDS, IPS and other definition sets but I'm not certain what this policy means for future product updates. This sounds very similar to what happened when Symantec stopped providing product updates for NIS/NAV/N360 v21.7.0.11, and I'm still encountering v21 users who believe they're "fully protected" because they receive regular definition updates but don't realize that Symantec has stopped patching critical vulnerabilities described in the Symantec security advisories like SYM16-010 in v22.6 and earlier products.

I'd still appreciate if someone from Symantec could explain how this relates to future product updates, and whether the information <here> provided yesterday by Norton customer support that "Identity Safe extension is also work in Windows Vista also, you will be able to get the new updates of your Norton product in your device"is correct.

Since Microsoft (Internet Explorer), Google (Chrome) and Mozilla (Firefox) have dropped browser support for Windows XP & Vista, it is not possible/practical for Norton to continue to support the Identity Safe browser plug-in.
The Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) version is not considered to be a “fully supported browser” but is the only version which will continue to function on older operating systems. The ESR version should continue to get its own Mozilla security updates for a certain period of time, but I do not believe that will be indefinitely.
An excerpt from my live chat of 16-Mar-2018 with customer support, which seems to conflict with information in the updated system requirements:
Norton: Lori, I would like to inform you that Norton Security is compatible with Windows Vista service pack 2 as you can use all the features of Norton Security in Windows Vista.
