Run a full system scan the total files scanned stays at 0

When I try to run a full system scan the total files scanned stays at 0.

What could be causing this?

Thanks

Hi AMBF:

It could be malware.

Please run a SysProt log for us so we can check your system for rootkit activity. You will need to disable Norton auto-protect while you run the scan.

Choose report or log, check all the boxes and scan.

You will be able to post the log here using the "add attachments" link just below the orange post button.

Well, I tried it more then once but it says to me that I need to get administrator access. I am the adm in the laptop.

When I do it in my other laptop it gives me the same message. What am I doing rong?

Thaks

symantec antivirus programs  often don't scan all files if your files are compressed(name of compressed folders/files/drives are blue)

or if you don't have all updates.

and for the administrator required messages: are you using windows vista?

even on an administrator account, all programs are started with user rights in windows vista unless specified otherwise.

if you are really sure you need a program to have administrator rights you can launch it by right-clicking the icon and selecting "run as administrator" however doing that with the wrong programs will make your computer more vulnerable so only do it with programs you trust 100%.

AMBF:

It is necessary that we identify the files on your computer that are causing the problem.  Please try to run the SysProt in safe mode to see if we can make some headway.

If you are still unable to run it, Quads will give you further instructions.  He is the only member qualified for this type of work.

Is it OK to do that with SysProt?

By running SysProt in safe mode, it will not ask me if I'm the admi?

Thanks

Hopefully Not, Use the Administrator account

AMBF:

Try right click on the SysProt icon, go to properties, and click Unblock, apply.  That should solve the problem.

Just curious. What version are you running?
