Running a Scan While in S3 (Standby, Sleep)

I have NAV 2011 running successfully on Windows 7 Professional x64.

Instead of an Idle Time Scan, I chose to schedule a scan of my computer. My scan is scheduled to occur once every week, on Monday, at 3:40 am. This morning was the first scheduled scan. When I 'woke' my computer from S3 this morning at approx. 7 am, I noticed that the scan had barely started.

Will a manually scheduled scan automatically 'wake' my computer, or do I need to wake the computer before the scan can start?

I just now completed a 'chat' with Symantec technical support. They were great, as usual.

NAV 2011 is not able to 'wake' a computer from S3 ('sleep' aka 'standby'). If you want to schedule a scan to run at a time when your computer is in S3, you must wake the computer yourself.

An easy way to do this is to create a 'dummy' task, like opening and closing a command prompt, and then schedule this task to occur a minute or two before the time when the scan will begin.

If you have done a manual scheduled scan then the scan is set up in Window's Task Scheduler.  You can try to set the option to have the task wake the system to run the task:

Unfortunately, that method (merely checking "Wake the computer to run this task") does not work on my computer. I must actually perform a command in order to wake my computer before NAV will start. YMMV.
