Safe to use FF4 without Norton Toolbar 5.5?

With the current iteration of the Norton Toolbar being incompatible with and disabled automatically by Firefox 4, is it safe to use the browser without the toolbar? I personally do not use the login-storage capabilities of the toobar, but I do miss the reassurance provided by the SafeWeb icons next to my web searches.

Am I less protected without the toolbar??

Hi HamsterJam,

Please see this post which indicates that Norton will have an update available in the May time frame for Firefox 4 and IE 9.

Best wishes.

Allen

Allen, I am aware that Symantec will push an update to users to solve this compatibility issue whenever they are ready to do so. What I am interested to know is whether it is safe to use Firefox 4 right now for everyday things in the meantime with the Norton Toolbar disabled.

The fact that the toolbar isn't present does not mean that Norton is inactive.

NAV/NIS works all of the time, unless you deactivate it, so enjoy. Just don't go down some of those very dark streets avter dark :)
