Safe Web Not Working

I am using IE11 (all update) windows 7 (all updated as well) I am not using firefox, chrome, or opera- and I don't care to- I have just spent an hour beign run in circles o nthsi site to various different htreads that have nothign to do with IE- and no confirmation from Norton whether they are even aware of thsi problem or not-

Safeweb icons soemtimes show up on first page of results in yahoo- bing- sometimes it doesn't- soemtimes I get no safeweb marks in second page, soemtimes I do- usually not htough- The safeweb checkmarks were workign fine just last week- now they don't- is htis a known issue that nortons is aware of? Are they workign on a fix? I have tried using ask, google, yahoo, bing, dgpile, none of them show the norton safeweb icons properly- some won't show them at all-

Results page - next to the search bar.  You need to do a search.

Hey Guys n Gals

Well, i had an issue sometime last week regards the updates and safe web. Not sure if anyone remembers but the updates starting working fine by themselves. The issue with the Safe Web feature tho is worse, and now the icons on Google do not appear at all now. I can refresh the page a million times, and yet the icons, letting me know if the pages are safe, will not show up. Unlike before, when at least they did, after one refresh of the page. My Windows 7 is fully up to date, and my NIS 2011 is fully up to date as well.

Its kinda starting to irritate me now. Any suggestions other than uninstall and reinstall as i really shouldnt have to do so for a program to operate as intended.

Edit: Maybe i should add that to access the web i use google as my homepage (www.google.com) and when i click on IE8 it opens me up there. When i type in the Norton Safe Web Browser the icons do seem to work just fine. The same goes for ask.com and bing.com. Is it just a google/norton issue?

Hi There

This is all i see when i do a google search. I dont see anything there that matches what you suggest i change

Thanks

Perhaps Google Instant is already turned off in your Preferences page.

I just checked and i cannot seem to find that option under the preferences.

Is there anything else i can do to try and solve this?. Ive disabled the addons under IE8 and rebooted, then re enabled them and it doesnt do anything.

Google Instant

If you don't want to see results as you type, you can turn off Google Instant by clicking the link next to the search box on any search results page, or by visiting your Preferences page.
I note that your image does not display Instant is on.

FWIW... I tried w on & w off ...no change to SafeWeb icons.  SafeWeb icons display with on or off (for me)

I'll loose SafeWeb icons if I block google scripts

Well, as its still not working, and no one has the remedy i will have to change my homepage to Bing.com. The safe web feature seems to work fine under that, so thats what im going to have to do. I guess its not a big problem. Just more annoying thats all, as it used to work fine under google, but not anymore.

Oh well........

Thanks for trying.

Hello unionjack

I wonder, have you considerd reload google search http://www.ieaddons.com/en/searchproviders

For testing purposes please confirn IE Settings at default....

I can reproduce your issue by hardening IE Security away from default...

Hi unionjack,

You weren't using Google SSL (https://) were you?

Hi SendOfJive

I was using http://www.google.com/

I will try the suggestion that bjm mentioned and will post back with the results.

Edit: Well i reset IE8 (latest build) to default and tried it out, and its still exactly the same. I still need to refresh the page for the safe web icons to appear. Its kind of annoying, so it looks as though i will do without google until it starts working again.

The usually helpful posters are going off in the wrong direction for some reason (i.e., https, instant on/off, etc).

It is well documented (many threads over a long period of time) that Safe Web has problems.

Why don't you just say that it often does not work with Google and Symantec has not fixed it.

It works fine for me.

Works for me....nary a hitch.

So, is there any hope that this will get resolved?, or am i just supposed to put up with it.

Ive even uninstalled Norton, and re installed it, yet things are still the same.

What gets me is that its been working fine since i purchased it. And its only now this issue has started. I think an update may of caused this, yet that being said, if it was then why aren't there others complaining about this same very issue.

Its all just so weird......................

Is it a Symantec issue? or is it Google's??.

I dont have a clue right now.

Hi unionjack,

If you do a Google search from the browser's search bar, instead of your Google homepage, do the site safety icons work better?

Hi SendOfJive

As of now my homepage is set to Bing.com. At the top right of my IE there is a search bar which is default to google. If i type something in there, google opens up and the safe icons appear just fine.

Not sure what to make of that, so im hoping you or someone else may have some ideas for me.

Thanks again.

Have you added www.Google.com to your Trusted Sites Zone in IE (and be sure that "Require server verification (https:)...." is unchecked)?
