I am having trouble with site verification for Safe Web. I am unable to access the root directory, but have placed the Meta tag. I have used Mete tags for other services like Google Analytics with no trouble, but this one has me stumped.
When I try to verify, I receive the following message:
“Web site ownership verification failed. Copy the auth file to the root directory of your Web site or copy the Meta tag into your Web site`s home page.”
I sure would appreciate any help. The site is thecarseatexperts.com.
The Safe Web meta tag appears to be properly formatted but it is placed outside the head element on your home page. I do see it located further down in the code and there is enough information for a manual verification.
I will notify the Safe Web team of your issue. Please allow them a day or two to respond back to you in this thread.
To be notified by email when a reply is posted, go to My Settings > Preferences and check the box for: "Automatically Subscribe Me to Topics I Participate In".
Our Safeweb team has verified ownership & queued up your website 'thecarseatexperts.com' for analysis, soon new rating will be reflected in safeweb.norton.com.Please give 10-14 days of time for the new ratings to reflect.
