Hi,
I have Safety Minder installed on 2 computers that my child uses, linked to one profile. I have "Total hours per day xxx can use the computer" set to 2 hours per day.
So if they log onto computer A and use it for 1 hour 30 mins, the minder will say they have 30 mins remaining.
If they then log out of computer A and logon to computer B, the remaining time will be 30 mins.
This worked fine until a few weeks ago
Now, if they log onto computer A and use it for 1 hour 30 mins, the minder will say the have 30 mins remaining.
If they then log out of computer A and logon to computer B, the remaining time will be 2 hours again.
This is not right, as I want it to be 2 hours total per day, not 2 hours per computer.
What happened?
Hi roc13x,
Thanks for the post. Could you tell us the versions of Norton Safety Minder on both PCs? You can find them by clicking on the Norton Safety Minder icon in the system tray and selecting About Norton Safety Minder.
Do the children have administrative rights on both PCs?
Thanks,
Katie
Hi,
Both PCs are running v2.1.0.37 of Safety Minder.
They have admin rights on one of the computers. I know it has not been tampered with as I tested the time limit myself and the behaviour is the same.
Could the admin rights still be causing the problem? It didn't before
roc13x,
Thanks for the update. We'll check into this.
Thanks,
Katie
I wonder if this is linked to other problems users are reporting with timing problems like:
1. Being allowed to log back in after time limit is reached
2. The software apparently calculating more than 24 hours in a day
Could a change in the program have inadvertently caused these knock on effects? They currently render timing control unreliable.
dgardner,
Thanks for the information. We are currently investigating on the time issue.
Thanks,
Katie
I am seeing the same issue.
The child is logging in to one computer, using up all her time (one hour per day), then logging into the other computer and using another hour there. The time used to be carried over between computers and that's how it should be, right?
H mynameisgabe,
Thanks for the post. The issue you reported is different from the previous issue in the thread. Do you have the monitored Windows accounts from the two PCs for the same child associated with the same profile online?
Thanks,
Katie
