I have a family friend that I help with her computer. A little while ago she received notice that her Norton couldn't renew (She had changed credit cards). While navigating though the web pages to renew her subscription she had dificulty and couldn't figure out what to do. On one of the pages she came across a number (1-800-942-1460) and called it thinking it was Norton's support line. When they answered they said they were Norton support. They used goto support to connect to her computer and told her she had "A whole bunch of viruses" (Even though Norton was and had been running) They charged her $200 and removed Norton. When she asked again she was told their name was Tech Sharp but that they did support for Norton. I have advised her to contact her credit card to dispute the charge. Does Norton do anything to try and prevent these companies from doing this?
