Scan not available - no internet connection

Laptop running Windows 8.1, recently updated (not out of choice - automatically!) to new Norton 360 Version 22.5.0.124.

When I click on the 'Fix' button (to run scans, clean up PC files etc), if I'm not connected to the internet (which is most of the time, as internet connection wears battery life and I also frequently switch WiFi off to focus on offline work, as the internet can be a massive distraction!), a message pops up to say that Norton 360 is unable to complete its quick scan because there isn't an internet connection. It says it can complete a limited scan but it won't fix the issue unless an internet connection is detected. (eh? *scratches head*)

I've never had this notification/error message popup window before - in the past I've been able to run quick and comprehensive scans WITHOUT the "need" to connect to the internet! Therefore, I was wondering if this is a new error within v.22.5.0.124, or an error message that has been around for a while (and I've just been lucky)?
