I already have 360 Deluxe on 2 pc’s, and yesterday I added it to a 3rd pc. Long story short, the latest installation seemed OK, but when I went to set up scan schedules, the schedule options (which are normally at the top of the options page for each kind of scan) were completely missing. (Also, it’s odd that there are no default options pre-selected for some of the other scan features such as what do to if there’s a detection.)
To troubleshoot, first I tried using Repair in the Troubleshoot tab. Didn’t help. I tried an on “on top” install without removing, but that didn’t change anything. I also tried selecting Repair in the Programs and Features section of Windows, but that didn’t change anything either. I also tried the latest Norton Remove and Reinstall tool, but that oddly crashes right at the start. I then removed 360 in Programs and Features (I chose “preserve settings’“ – maybe a mistake?), and then reinstalled. Same result. Included in all of this were plenty of restarts. I tried several of these things in Safe Mode as well, including the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool, which still crashed right at the start.
@Ardmore That is indeed one serious headache. Please give us some information for work with to help you better:
What OS are you using on the affected device? What build and version is it, is it an insider build of
Windows?
-Are there any Windows Update pending installation?
-Did you install Norton on top of another installation of Norton originally?
Are you running an ARM processor, Windows running in S mode?
What is the version and build of Norton installed?
Do you have a screenshot to share of the crash as it happened?
*Did you use the version 24/25.xx removal tool and perform a removal only scenario, reboot, then manually remove ALL folders labeled Norton, Symantec, and Avast then restart again prior to reinstalling Norton?

@SoulAsylum Thanks for the reply. Since I didn’t try a removal-only scenario, followed by the manual folder removal – and using the specific version of the removal tool you cited – I will do so and post again with either a success report or the other info you requested, to look into it further.
@SoulAsylum Good news to report! It worked this time, using the version of the Norton Remover you linked to, and following the other instructions near the bottom of your post. This time the expected scan scheduling dialog is in the options section for each scan type, and other options such as action to take upon malware detection are pre-selected with defaults.
So thanks again. BTW, the folders I deleted per your instructions totaled 2GB(!).
