Scan stalled for hours on "Checking for: SecurityRisk.ProxyDNS"

I have been having this problem for around a month and I really confused how to deal with it...

As the title suggest, whenever I scan my computer using my Norton Internet security, for some reason the scan will be stalled on "Checking for: SecurityRisk.ProxyDNS". The time it will take to finish scanning my computer become longer because of this.

Quick Scan, as far as I see could take from 1 up to 3 and half hour to finish, and most of the time spent on "Checking for: SecurityRisk.ProxyDNS"

Its the same whether I use quick scan or full scan it will stuck on "Checking for: SecurityRisk.ProxyDNS" for 1/2/3 hours before the scan proceed.

Today I decided to try uninstalling and reinstalling my Norton Internet security using Norton remove and reinstall tool to see whether it fixed the problem or not.

well I haven't actually see how long it took to finish my current quick scan, but as I create this thread, my norton already spend  more than 20min on "Checking for: SecurityRisk.ProxyDNS". EDIT: yep the problem still there

Before this I tried to have Norton support fix it and at one time they succeeded by clearing my dns cache among other stuffs, but the problem returned and it doesn't seemed that the method work anymore.

I highly doubt my computer is infected by malware or virus, mainly because in addition to norton I also use Malwarebyte and scan my computer once every two or three weeks and I never detected anything from that.

also because I just finished reinstalling my norton, I also doubt that my norton program is the one that is problematic.

I regularly use VPN that use PPTP method of connecting, so I wonder whether this might has anything to do with the problem?

in any case, I simply wonder whether there is other people who faced similar problem and managed to find a fix to it, as my live chat session with Norton support didn't helped much and I think its quite uncommon problem.

Thank you
