I am running Nortons 360 version 2.3.1.4
I believe the problem started after I downloaded WinRAR to My pc but everytime I right click a File and want to scan now it says "a scan is already running. Please wait until it finishes". The problem is....it never finishes.
Now it is also doing it from the main Norton window and restarting isn't helping. Is there a way to manually shut this down? a fix? or could it be a setting in WinRAR?
ok, I am going to need a step by step "How to" to do this.....
Thanks
I dont think it is a winrar issue, but goto winrar and integration tab and turn off integration into shell. I doubt it makes a difference but worth eliminating in all events.
That was already turned off thanks

Open N360 settings, uncheck SymProtect tamper protection. When you are unable to run a scan, run Windows task manager (Alt+Ctrl+Del), and right click on ScanStub.exe. End this task manually. Now you should be able to run scans.
Awesome, that did it! How often do you suppose this may occur? I turned the tamper thing back on, should I of left it off?
Thanks I appreciate your time and help
You can leave it turned on if you like, but I have mine turned off permanently in case issues like this arise (just for the convenience of not having to go in and turn it on and off so often). It will have no adverse effect on N360 to leave it turned off.
As johna said, you can turn it on back, but If you often scan files manually, turn it off. In both cases you are protected.
This is a rare bug found in Norton 360 v2.0. I also encounter this problem from time to time. You can end process "scanstub.exe" from taskmgr, but be sure that tamper protection for your Norton product is turned off.
