NIS 2012
I schedule a full system scan daily in the wee morning hours. Its overkill I know but I like it that way.
Well this morning (Sat 10/20/12) no full system scan ran.
I know the automatic quick scan that happens when virus def sets update ran, so I’m sure not a virus related incident causing full system scan not to run.
Any idea why the full system scheduled scan did not run?

Just wondering if this is because a reboot was required due to the new updat??
I know the new update was for NIS 2013, but would it also have some effect on NIS 2012?
if the scan is set to run on idle time and at a period of time u will have to take that in consideration u should check what setings u did for the custom scan
Thanks for your reply. The idle time box was checked.
But it has always been like that since 9/13/12 and it always has run. Have it set for 3am when nobody is on the PC.
These failures for the schedule full system scan to run, only began 10/20/12 and 10/21/12. so thats what makes me wonder if it has to do with the Norton update?
I checked to see if any programs were going out to the internet, when the scan was scheduled to start and did not see anything in the lNIS log
It's not really possible to guess the reason why with any accuracy.
so you thinking that it did not run those two mornings because something else was running at the same time?
so it its scheduled for 3am with the run only at idle time box checked, will it run right away as soon as the PC is idle after 3am? Or will it have to wait until the next scheduled 3am time?
Since it is scheduled. Unchecking "Only at idle time" should be okay. Because it's scheduled for a time where no activity should be going on.
Probably not the answer you were looking for. But it's the only solution I can think of. Might want to give it a try and see if the scheduled scan takes place.
thanks all. I’m pretty sure its not due to maliciousness, because I still had quicksan automatically run after updated virus defs
Still not sure why I did not run on those two consecutive days.
But I went ahead and unclicked the idle scan box and change the run time to 3:15am and it has been working fine
