Secure VPN won’t connect to server (8) & (1009)

I have followed the procedures in the FAQ to no avail (uninstall & install), the Secure VPN will not conect to the VPN server from my iPad Pro. It does connect on my iPhone, but it tells me all the seats on the license are used up. Of course the license is supposed to be for FIVE and I’ve only used three so far. My Mac(desktop), my iPhone, and my iPad which won’t connect.

I have attempted to run the norton removal zip but after downloading it on my iPad I can’t get it to open. Does anyone have any ideas?

Don't expect a resolution any time soon.  I have been having this issue for almost 3 months and Norton has not seemed to take any action to resolve it in spite of it being escalated countless times.  Hope your issue is resolved faster than mine has been!  Good luck!

Thank you

I'll try escalating your issue. It is similar to some other users having issues connecting to the Norton VPN.

USA, and the subscription issue should be resolved. Secure VPN seems to work okay on my iPhone, but the iPad, not so much.

I still feel you need to get the subscription issue resolved first. What part of the world are you in? Sometimes there are different number of devices allowed on a subscription based on geographic markets.

All the seats were used message occurred before the problem with server connection. I attempted to transfer the seat from my iPhone to my iPad and waited about 30 minutes for something to happen. I then closed the app on my iPad and did a restart (of my iPad).

After the restart, I attempted to start Secure VPN and that was when the issue with server connection began. I deleted the app and reinstalled the app but it still would not connect to the server.

Where in the process are you seeing the all seats already used message? If you are not able to connect to the servers, you should not be seeing any messages about the subscription.

Once you have the subscription sorted, we can try to deal with the connection issue.

I can contact support, but it doesn’t explain why the Secure VPN tool won’t connect to the server, with the two messages (sometimes (8) sometimes (1009).

That would be because the removal utility is written for Windows systems. There is no removal utility for iOS devices.

Currently there is no way manage your licences for the Norton Secure VPN on your own. If you uninstalled and reinstalled, it may have gotten recorded as another activation. Contact Norton Support and have them clean up your subscription activations.    www.norton.com/contactcs
