Hi,
I am constantly receiving the following message from my Norton 360 premier edition: 'SECURITY REQUEST. Your computer must restart in order to continue the removal of security risks. What do you want to do? (From drop down menu) Restart now (recommended). In 24hrs etc.'
Needless to say I've tried restarting without success.
Whichever option I choose has no effect as the same message appears a couple of hours later!
I have carried out a full scan and downloaded and run the Norton Power Eraser but it still appears (Usually after a small pop up indicating a norton quick scan has been done.)
Any Ideas would be welcome.
Regards
Ricofilm.

The History is extensive without a reason to do a re-boot, I can not tell which is related to these same popups. Would be nice if that was included with the popup.
Thanks for the thought to use the NRNR. I will try that had hope to end these continual popups of the same request to reboot
Have you checked the Norton History to see what Norton is detecting?
It is possible that something has gotten muddled with your Norton installation. Try getting a fresh install of your Norton product using the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool. www.norton.com/nrnr Be sure you read the before you begin section, and run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available.
I have done that several times, yet the popup keeps returning.
The reboot and the use of the Norton Power Eraser found nothing yet the popup returns almost every other day.
My desktop is current with updates.
How can I get to Norton to find out what is the issue so I can stop this and go on with out these popups//
normally I don't turn off the machine unless directed to do so by some installed application.
Sometimes an app may not show a message, but if there are pending updates you need to restart your computer to allow the updates to complete. This is often the case with Windows updates and other software, including Norton. With pending updates there can be unusual behavior such as the Norton message you are seeing. It appears Norton has found some issue that needs a restart to fully remove the malware.
So you should look at SoulAsylum's suggestion to disable the Fast Startup feature, or at least do a system restart, not shutdown and startup.
Thanks for the comments but, normally I don't turn off the machine unless directed to do so by some installed application. The unit is on a UPS, I do use a VPN unless a location will not load due to it being on, and the monitor is turned off when the desktop is not in use. I do watch a variety of videos with the VPN and I think Norton doesn't like it nor does Malwarebytes. I usually turn Malwarebytes off to stop it from constantly showing its head. Do not know how to stop that Norton Popup.
Hello Cyclone. Here is a better way to post images directly into your posts. Since this is obviously Norton alerting you the first thing coming to mind is having fast startup enabled on your system. Constant restart alerts indicate one of two things. You are getting updates on a constant basis requiring a reboot (which is unlikely) or your system isn't getting a complete and clean shutdown. (fast startup will cause this issue). Disable fast startup, and reboot your system. Run live updates on your product until no more are available and reboot a second time. Once rebooted play any video to duplicate the issue. Please let us know if this corrected things.
Cheers
