Security Suite won't start quick or full scan

I searched long and hard for a similar posting, but didn't find exactly what I needed; so I hope I'm not doubling up.

Anyway, I have three laptops all running Norton Security Suite from Comcast. The one laptop running Windows 7 has no issues.  The two laptops running Windows 8 will not start the quick or full scans.

1. When I open the program, I get, "Your PC needs to be scanned for viruses and spyware." When I click on Fix Now, the dialog box opens and says Quick Scan scan is not complete.  I can only close from this point.

2. I click on the security section that is highlighted to run the scan.  I click on "Run Scans", no matter which option I choose, the scans will not start.  The updates all run successfully, but after that point, neither the full scan or quick scan will run.  They both say not scanned.

3.  I read in one of the forum posts to try running the scans from right-clicking in the hidden menu, and that still didn't work.  In this action, nothing happens; no windows open, no error messages, etc.

It would really be nice if I could get my Windows 8 computers to run my scans on schedule when they should be running.  Any help would be wonderful. I have a some of the common items I saw on other posts.  Thank you in advance.

Norton Security Suite from Comcast

Version: 20.2.0.19

Windows 8 64bit

When I run get support, there are no errors and nothing fixed.

Hoping the attached screen shots help, if not I will get what is needed ASAP. I apologize for the lack of know-how when giving some information.

Hi pwoy

The info is comprehensive and a welcome change to what sometimes seems like a text message.

Have you or have you ever had any security software on the system of each machine.  If so, what where they, including any Norton products.

Hi pwoy,

Did the Win 8 systems come with any trial AV installed?  If so, which product and hwo was it removed.  This goes along with intesec's question about prior security software.

Is Windows Defender disabled (so as to avoid conflict with Norton)?

Please verfiy your system date, time  and time zone are correct.

One the Security Section of the main page - please select view details from the drop down menu and let us know if anything is not green and what details it might provide.

Probably will not help - but from the main page select Support > Get Support > and see if the scan reports any errors and if ti corrects them or not.

Please keep us posted.
