I am being told I need more storage for backup. I have no interest in purchasing more cloud storage for backup. I just want to regularly back up important documents, files, etc. Norton seems to NOT have the option to back up specific folders. It only backs up "file types" based on their extension. For example "pictures" will backup every file it finds that is a picture file extension, like jpeg, tiff, png, pdf, wepd, bmp, etc that it find ANYWHERE on the drive selected. Many programs have images included with it's software. Those don't need backing up. And apparently the standard answer to backing up specific folders is to use the "include or exclude" folders. WHY should be have exclude folders to avoid every file of a specific type? That would take forever to identify every folder say in the program folders or download folders to set up a select list of folders to back up. Why not back up based on selected folders rather than file type?
Nathan Peeters:You cannot delete the only backup from the Norton on your PC, but you can delete it from my.norton.com without getting that message. The problem starts then because on your Norton (on the PC) the settings are still the same as was before, so if you press fix now it will start backing up the same things as the backup set you just deleted. So you need to not press fix now and go to Performance > backup sets > deselect files and then you can run a backup. it's a very strange and not to the point way of doing things....
Oh!...Thanks!!

peterweb:bjm_:Nathan Peeters:or you can delete the whole set on my.norton.com,

Can the only backup set be deleted on my.norton.com if it's the only backup set?Yes. You can remove the whole backup set and the next time you run backup in 360 it will recreate the new backup set there.
Hmm, then why does Norton documentation say:
You cannot delete a backup set if only one backup set is available.
However, you can create a new backup set before you delete the old backup set.

Q: How many GB of GB used does My Norton report is available?
for example:
I created a new backup set with only one small file and was able to delete the larger file, so the problem has been solved. Thanks for your help.
gamott2015:I tried creating a new backup set, small enough that it only had one file in it, thinking I could upload that and then delete the other one. When I did, I got a message saying I didn't have enough space available to upload it. I could try again with a smaller file and see what happens. I will take a look at the links provided and see if any of it helps.
Q: How many GB of GB used does My Norton report is available?
for example:
Maybe, try restoring/downloading some files to a convenient location - temporarily - to create available space.
https://my.norton.com/extspa/backup/home
Then try to create a new backup set - so, if needed you can delete your original default backup set.
Please post progress.
Nathan Peeters:you can delete the whole set on my.norton.com, then make the existing backup very small.

@Nathan Peeters
Wonders what happens when @gamott2015 tries to delete/trashcan the default (only) backup set from:
https://my.norton.com/extspa/backup/home
Will gamott2015 see:
You can configure the existing backup to be smaller, by deselecting files, or you can delete the whole set on my.norton.com, then make the existing backup very small. Then make a new backup set with the files that you want to back up.
If you can't reach the Classic view to modify your backup, press the arrow next to device security and select performance. Don't press fix now because that will take you to a viscous loop...

I've been using CDRS, DVDs, USB sticks, as well as another computer that's offline to store files, and if I can't get this fixed, I could always continue doing that. Whenever I open Norton now, I get a message saying "Attention you have low storage for online backup," I would like to at least get rid of that. See the attache png

No it doesn't solve it. Why not allow users to select specific folders, rather than "file types?" If the backup selects every file type of a specific extension, how do I "exclude" EVERY FOLDER that has this file type? I've never seen a backup service that backup files by file type, and every possible iteration of a file type. Not practical.
Hi @Toohip I believe the file attachment in you post explains how to do this. Or my directions for the same are also attached.
Hope you find this useful.
