Serious delays in email delivery from organizations that send mass emails

I am running Windows 10 with Norton Security.  I have Anti-Spam turned off, but Anti-Virus is turned on. Sometimes I receive emailed flash sale notices from a store after the sale is over.  Today I received an email blast from my church that was sent 89 hours (almost 4 full days) before I received it.  My husband, running a Mac, but with an email address associated with the same Charter account and using the same home WiFi, received his about 9 hours after it was sent. The email blast from our church was sent via an email marketing service.  What's going on here? Is my Norton software slowing things down?
