Have you made sure Automatic LiveUpdate and Pulse Updates are On in the Settings?

tolbiny,

Can you provide the details of your network adapter:

- Manufacturer, Model #

- How its connected to the DSL modem (USB, PCI card + network cable, etc)

- When you click on the "CPU Usage" dialog, have any background tasks run?

Automatic LiveUpdate can take up to 6 hours between runs, depending on system usage.  Has this amount of time elapsed since you've installed?

Regarding the comment about the DSL connection being "terminated", it is due to the installation of the "Symantec Network Security Intermediate Filter Driver".  Windows needs to "reset" the network adapter when new services are bound to it.

Regards,

Mike

Intel 82562V-2 10/100

 Network cable

Phishing Protection Updates are running ok

Norton Insight Scan is running ok

Idle Quick Scan is running ok

The other background tasks have never run

As I mentioned, I can run the LiveUpdate manually

One more thing: Automatic LiveUpdate says Last Run: 9/30/2008 5:00 PM; Duration: 00.00.01; Ran During Idle: Yes; Status: Failed To Complete

Yes. Prior installations have run for 2 or 3 days with no Automatic LiveUpdates or Pulse Updates. The current uinstallation has been running for about 5 hours.

That explains that. Thanks Mike.
