Setting up your online backup could not be completed at this time

I have a new install of Norton 360 installed on a multiboot laptop with Windows Vista, 7 and 8 and all three are activated for security but the 360 backup option will not activate.  I get the error "Setting up your online backup could not be completed at this time. Please try again later".   When I go to Norton's online backup web site, log in, and try to activate it, it gives me this message: "Failed to activate your subscription. Please check the code you entered and try again."  I am using the same Product Key that activated the PC security portion of 360 which successfully activated all 3 installations on this laptop.

I found a solved issue on this forum but it said to "log out by hitting the Grey/Black X and then try activating your Backup account.  It will ask for your password and connect  with NBU."  I don't understand logging out by hitting the grey black x.  Here is the link to that solution.

I just thought of something...I booted to Windows Vista because that was the first installation of 360 with this product key.  That activation of the backup worked but after booting back to Windows 7 it still would not activate.  It may be because this install under Windows 7 was with another product key.  I had removed it with the norton removal tool and reinstalled it with norton management.

I removed it again and installed it again per the Norton directions.  It shows up in Norton Management but still will not activate the norton 360 backup.  I suspect it si because this 360 was originally installed with another product key.  I may try going back to that key to see if it works...

Appreciate any help
