A family member uses Norton AntiVirus 2011 on both of her computers, and whenever she plays a specific game on either computer Norton will display a "High CPU Usage" message - very annoying. Can someone please tell me how to disable this message, or at least change the CPU usage threshold so that Norton won't always "warn" her about this whenever she plays that game?
I went into NAV's Settings, but I wasn't able to find it. Sorry: I'm not familiar with Norton at all - I'm a dedicated Kaspersky user.
thanks,
JohnB

Hi johnnyzero,
Go to Settings > Miscellaneous Settings > Performance Monitoring. You have many options, including turning off Performance Monitoring, turning off Performance Alerts, or raising the alert threshold. The best method, however, is to use the Program Exclusions configuration option to exclude the specific games from Performance Monitoring.
I have also gotten that pop up message. I'm going from memory so be kind.. There should be a prompt/link that says 'Details' or something similar on the pop up message. Click that and another window will pop up. In that window there should be a prompt/link stating "Ignore' or something similar. Once you clink the Ignore prompt it will state something different, like monitor or something. Hopefull that will fix her problem.
Games are supposed to use as much CPU power as they can. If they didn't, it wouldn't run as good as possible. Ignore the warning, or disable the function (I always do).
Thanks so much to all for the info - that's what I needed to know: NAV's Settings are pretty extensive, and I just didn't know where to look.
best,
JohnB
Hello John
You can disable High CPU alerts for a particular program in two ways
1. Once you receive the High CPU alert toaster, Click on view Details to view its Application card, there you have the option to turn off Alert using "Don't alert for this file" link
2. Else add the Games program to the Program Exclusion list. (Settings -> Miscellaneous Settings -> Performance Monitoring -> Program Exclusions
Both these options will prevent CPU alerts
Hope this info helps you
Thanks
Kavitha
Thanks, Kavitha. Good info!
