Hi:

 I password protected my settings (NIS 2010), The password I have written down no longer works or I am missing/forgetting something. I see no forgot password option for settings, what do I do?

Hi BPS,

 

Here is how you do it:

 

You can reset the password in the window that appears when you choose to uninstall the product. You need not uninstall the product to reset your password. You can use the reset settings password option in the uninstall preference window to reset your password. This option appears in the uninstall preference window only when you have set a settings password. You can set a new password after typing the randomly generated characters that are displayed in the dialog box to reset your password.

 

You can turn off the Settings Password Protection option if you no longer require password protection for the product settings.

Cool but incase if you have missed the right password also there is a way to recover and that's what i have posted earlier.

Hi BFS,

 

Its simple, you find "Accept as solution" button below the reply option agains each post.

Just click on the accept solution against the post and it will mark the thread solved.

Prasanna would not suggest this but it would help others with the same problem if you switched the Solved flag to the post with how to reset the password:
