Setup error

I try to install NIS 2009 Upgrade from CD on Vista SP1. When I put the CD in the PC, I get the Install-menu. When I select: "Install", then almost immediately I get a general Windows error message: "Setup is stopped. You will be notified when a solution is available" (I use the Dutch version of Vista, so the message is translated by me). I have no idea what's wrong.

I uninstalled NIS 2008, but that makes no difference.

Any suggestions?

Kind regards,

Otto Dekkers

Yes, I had NIS 2008 installed. As I wrote, I uninstalled this, but no difference.

Hi odekkers,

Do you have any other security software installed?

Have you tried to install by "Run as Administrator".

Thanks.

I mean: Do you have a Norton Security Product install at this moment in time, or is your computer un-Protected right now (November 21, 2008)?

At this moment, because I uninstalled NIS 2008, my computer has only Microsoft Firewall en no AntiVirus.

- I have no other security software installed (beside Microsoft Firewall, but that was switched off, I used NIS firewall)

- I didn't try "Run as administrator". But the user I logged in with has full administrator rights.

Hi Otto

Try the "Run as Administrator" anyway.

Let us know.

Hi Otto,

Navigate to the folder C:\ Program Data\Norton Installer\Logs.

You can find a URL.txt file inside the logs folder, open it and check for the error string, which starts with  http://errors.norton.com/?module=

Can you please copy and paste the entire string here?

Thank you, "Run as administrator" solved the problem!

Kind regards,

Otto.

I couldn't find the string you requested in url.txt. Perhaps because I already solved the problem by running setup.exe "as administrator".
