I could not load Windows XP this morning as it complained about a HAL.dll file was corrrupt.
So, I got out my Ghost Recovery disk and brought up Windows and did a recovery on the last MyComputer backup dated April 10th. That worked.
I have been doing a MyComputer backup every week and a MyData backup of two critical folders every night. Both types of backups go to my D:\ external hard drive.
Since the MyComputer back on April 10, Ghost Status shows I have 8 MyData backups on April 11, 12, 16, 17, 18 20, 21 and 22.
When I try to recover the April 22nd version of MyData, it doesn't show any files. I get a "There are no results to display" popup message. Same with the other 7 MyData backups since April 10th.
So, it looks like a MyComputer recovery destroys later MyData backups.
I think the reason might be that that MyData indices are kept on the c:\ drive instead of the D:\ drive. If so, they must have gotten destroyed during the MyCoimputer Recovery.
I suspect that the MyData backup files are still on my external D:\ drive.
Does anyone know if I can recover the MyData backups? Anyone know trhe file names of these backups?
If I can't recover the MyData backups, I think Ghost has a very serious design flaw.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!
