Hi All,

I have tried to search for all reference for any virus with name Shahrokh.exe. But I could not find any. Symantec installed in my machine  doest not detects it. I have that file a USB port thumbdrive and I had formatted it many a times and that file still keeps staying in that thumbdrive. It does not get deleted. Hence I assume it to be a virus. When ever I insert that into a USB port and double click on the drive represented , it does not open that drive as it does opens for C drive. But I can see the contents of thumb drive only via explorer on start button.

Any suggestions of removing this is a great help for me.

Thanks in advance for any one who replies.

Kiran

Please submit the file over here. https://submit.symantec.com/websubmit/retail.cgi

That way Symantec can take a good look at it

hi Mel,

   Thanks for your reply.

Norton does not detects it. It shows it clean. But the thing is, as I insert that thumbdrive into the laptop or any desktop , Task Manager button gets disabled and it even disables opening C drive. To get the contents of  C drive, I have to go through via Explorer on Start button. Even if I try to remove by "Safely Remove Hardware" option, it will not be allowed to be removed, when I am not using any file in that thumbdrive.

Right click over the files and properties of that file specifies like size of file is 1.07 MB and shows created date as April 21,2008 Modified date as April 2, 2008 and last accessed date as April 23,2008. Infact I have not directly accessed the file but shows accessed date as April 23, 2008.

That file will be present even after deleting by 'Shift+delete' and n number times of formatting the thumb drive. Right now the only option  I see is to quarantine that thumb drive from using it.

I have reported here, if somebody can have a chance to explore more on this and to update the norton community members.

hi Stu,

I have reported to that link provided by you. Thanks for that suggestion.

Awaiting for reply from them now.More updates as I get any response from them

Thanx and well done.

You will hear something soon.

hi Kiran - it doesn't really sound like a virus to me, but if you can, you should be able to right-click the file in the explorer view and let norton scan just that file.

it seems more likely that the file is write-protected or part of a boot partition on the USB drive. if you right-click it and choose properties, are there any additional details there you could post back with?
