Shortcut icon corrupted after large liveupdate download 4-15-13

Dell XPS8500 i5 with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium

Yesterday (4-15-13) I clicked on my desktop NIS shortcut icon and ran liveupdate -- I was surprised that update was over 50mb.

It downloaded in less than 5 minutes, and then asked if I wanted to apply, I clicked yes -- and the update was applied.

After I got the message that the update had been applied, i decided to restartt just to make sure everything was alright.

However, after the restart, I noticed that my desktop shortcut icon did not look the same as before -- and it wouldn't work.

I tried several times, and then deleted it.

I then tried to make another shortcut -- but I couldn't do it -- I clicked on start, all programs, went to Norton Internet Security program, right clicked and I couldn't find "create shortcut" in the selection list.

Does anyone know what's happening?

Why was there such a big (50MB) update?

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance.
