Should the Mods change this forum name?

I notice from the number of posts that appear in this forum but would better go to other, product specific forums, whether the title of this forum, "Forum Feedback" may be a little too ambiguous.  It appears that new members often interpret it to mean that this is a good place for them to leave feedback which it may not always be.  Might it be better if the name were changed to something like "Feedback about the Forums"?  I know it is longer but might it help people find the right starting place more reliably?

Just a thought.

Hi Andmike,

I have the feeling that you could name this forum the trash can and the message mix wouldn't change all that much.

About all that can be done is when you see a message that really needs to be in another forum tell the moderators. I do when I see one.

Maybe we should have a contest to find the best name for this forum :smileylol:

Andmike -funny you should bring that up.  You see this was discussed before:

Things have not changed much since then.

:smileywink:        Of course that thread is not "marked solved"!!!   original.gif

So maybe we should mark your message as the solution :smileywink:

You know, the solution is no solution [ducking , running, hiding]

The Lithium software that these forums are based on could potentially offer a solution to this issue. The 'annoyance factor' with the ' Moved' placeholder threads is that they never expire, thus leaving a lot of ' Moved' clutter on the various Norton Community forum boards. This is particularly noticeable on the Forum Feedback board due to it's low traffic volume in comparison with the Product-related forum boards.

So, a potential solution to the problem (providing the Lithium software supports some form of scheduled processing) may work like this:

  1. Create a hidden (non-public) forum board to house the '' Moved' threads.

  2. Once a day, run a scheduled job that scans each Norton Community board looking for ' Moved' placeholder threads that have a creation date greater than 7 days ago.

  3. If a ' Moved' placeholder thread that matches this criteria is found, then the scheduled job automatically moves that placeholder thread to the hidden forum board for ' Moved' threads, leaving nothing behind.

  4. This process essentially gives the opening thread author a week to acknowledge the thread that they have created. After that, they will need to click on their forum user name if they want to locate their thread.

The reason I'm suggesting a hidden forum as a destination rather than simply deleting the placeholder thread is that moving the placeholder thread should keep the Moderator's posting statistics intact (important).

Just a suggestion for further investigation by the Norton Forum Administrators.
