Thought I’d make this a separate thread
U too have a second July version of the Microsoft malicious software removal tool . First one came with patch Tuesday. It was run and shows as successful in my list of updates.
Second one now in my optional updates.
Little concerned cause I have seen stuff about bogus malicious siftware removal tool from Microsoft
Shirt question, should this second one be run??
Tried to find answer on Microsoft answers but all they responded with us a generic canned answer about the malicious software removal tool.
Dang sorry for the mid-spellings. Doing this on my phone and fingers too fat for keyboard
Calls,
I'm told that the second version has corrections to things incorrect [ms never makes mistakes or errors] in the first release.
Vista Home Premium 32 bit
Vista SP2
Desktop PC
if one ran the tool that came on patch Tuesday (July), one should run the second tool?
Has it caused any problems for people?
Just as major updates to Norton products are rolled out in controlled, limited releases in order to keep any unforeseen problem from affecting a large number of users, Microsoft is following a similar approach in its release of a new version of the Malicious Software Removal Tool. If you got your Microsoft updates automatically this month, you would have gotten the old MSRT. If you checked for updates manually, you would have gotten the new version. If you downloaded and installed via automatic update and then checked again for more updates, you would have gotten both.

Well I ran the second one and there seems to be no issues
Thanks all
